Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
Aug. 10-16, 2020
Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 12:21 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2020, an offender assaulted four officers. The offender spat at the officers, striking two officers in the face, eyes, and mouth. The other officers were struck on clothing and did not require outside medical attention. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. Two officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Missouri Eastern Correctional Center: At approximately 2:55 a.m. on Aug. 12, 2020, an offender assaulted three officers. The offender punched and kicked the officers’, striking the officers’ in the shoulders, neck, arms, hands, abdomen, finger, leg, back and wrists. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. One officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Western Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 9:35 a.m. on Aug. 13, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender forced his way past the officer striking the officer in the left shoulder and arm. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender spat at the officer striking the officer on the right arm and facial area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Western Missouri Correctional Center: At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2020, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender struck the officers in the arms and upper torso, using his hands and feet. The offender also choked one of the officer. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. One of the officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
