Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 15-22, 2019
Tipton Correctional Center: At approximately 2:22 p.m. on July 17, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw body fluids at the officer. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Western Missouri Correctional Center: At approximately 11:20 a.m. on July 19, 2019, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender struck one officer 3 times in the facial area and spat in another officer facial area. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officers did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Boonville Correctional Center: At approximately 10:55 p.m. on July 21, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. During a power outage, two officers had substance thrown on them, however were unable to determine who threw the substance. Another officer was shoved by an offender resulting in the officer falling backwards onto a table. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officers did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
