Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 20-26, 2020
Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 12:17 p.m. on July 20, 2020, 38 offenders took part in a disturbance. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved by 1:25 p.m. Normal operations are continuing. No staff members were injured. No offenders were injured. Conduct violations were issued. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Western Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 11:00 a.m. on July 24, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender grabbed the officer’s right hand through the food port. The officer’s right middle finger received a large cut and possible broke the finger. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Western Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 12:18 p.m. on July 26, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender charged at the officer and attempted to strike the officer in the facial area with a closed fist. The offender charged at the officer again and grabbed the officer around the torso area, pushing the officer into the windows and wall. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
