Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 6-12, 2020
Fulton Reception, Diagnostic Center: At approximately 12:35 p.m. on July 6, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender struck the officer on the left side of the jaw with a closed fist. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 3:43 a.m. on July 7, 2020, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender head-butted both officers striking one officer in the shoulder and right side of face and the other officer on the left side of the head and eye. The offender also spat at both officers striking them in the back and facial area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 9:36 a.m. on July 8, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender spat at the officers, striking the officer in the facial area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 2:00 p.m. on July 8, 2020, an offender assaulted four officers. The offender threw feces at the officers, striking the officers in the faces, torso and boots. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. Three officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Southeast Correctional Center: At approximately 7:33 p.m. on July 10, 2020, 15 offenders took part in a disturbance. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved by 9:00 p.m. Normal operations are continuing. No staff members were injured. No offenders were injured. Conduct violations will be issued.
South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 11:50 a.m. on July 12, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw feces their drink at the officer, striking the officers in the lower torso area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 2:20 p.m. on July 12, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender pushed the officer’s right shoulder with his left hand. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
