Special Olympics Torch Run
The Special Olympics Torch Run was held in Cameron on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, with several staff members from CRCC participating.
CRCC and WMCC sponsor joint blood drive
CRCC joined WMCC to sponsor a blood drive on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Fifty-five staff members participated donating 51 pints of blood. Of those 55 donors, 12 were donating for the first time! A huge thanks go to all those who either donated blood or supplied refreshments for the donors.
Employee of the Month
Operations
OSA Valerie Dredge
OSA Valerie Dredge was selected as Operations Employee of the Month for May 2019. She was nominated by Laundry Supervisor I Jeanne Drake. Drake stated that Valerie is always willing to assist others. As the CRCC IT contact, she is continually assisting staff members with any computer issues they may have, and she helps submit IT work tickets when needed. Valerie also has been conducting computer training for new staff for the last five years.
Valerie has worked in the food service area, which has been a tremendous help. She also receives numerous phone calls and emails from attorneys requesting visits with offenders. Valerie handles these calls professionally and with a friendly and helpful demeanor. Valerie has also been assisting with duties for the Chief of Custody and the Deputy Warden of Operations. Her dedication, hard work and knowledge of her job is recognized and greatly appreciated.
Offender Management
CCM II Rhonda Lawrence
CRCC is pleased to recognize CCM II Rhonda Lawrence, as the Offender Management Employee of the Month for May 2019. Rhonda was nominated by Mailroom Supervisor Christine Flanders, for assisting with reviewing more than 3,000 J-Pay emails. Rhonda has been instrumental in maintaining the safety and security of offender electronic mail and worked closely with DOC Central Office staff to ensure the right tools were identified to enhance the process. CRCC greatly appreciates all her efforts to help make the department safer.

CRCC staff members show charitable spirit
A check for $251 was presented to the Green Hills Women’s Shelter on behalf of CRCC, with proceeds collected from Dress down Days during National Crime Victims Week observed April 7-13.
Also, this month, CRCC held a silent auction, raising $2,000 to benefit Special Olympics.
CRCC honors clerical staff
On April 2,3 CRCC clerical staff were treated to a buffet-style meal provided by all supervisors in celebration of Administrative Assistants Day.

Cook III Laura Johnson
Laura was nominated by her supervisor Food Service Manager Trish Rogers, for taking the initiative to make changes to the food service area, making it safer for staff and offenders. She has gone beyond her duties as a Cook III and she is a valuable asset to food service, CRCC and the department.
Offender Management
Sergeant Bret Thogmartin
Bret was nominated by Lieutenant Eric Portiner for his assistance in covering multiple housing units.Bret has worked with new staff in multiple units, assisting them in developing necessary skills. He has also responded to emergency situations in these units.
Awards & Recognition
On April 17, employees were given Easter cookies from the Personnel Club. Each employee also was given a CRCC cup, key holder or koozie and guessed how many jelly beans were in a jar. OSA Valerie Dredge guessed closest to the number of jelly beans and was given a charcoal BBQ set and various utensils!
