CO II Bruce Boren
Bruce Boren has been tasked with the not-so-pleasant job of greeting each and every staff member to take temperatures and ask the same COVID-19 related questions each and every day. Boren has a great attitude and greets everyone with professionalism and respect. He is a team player and is always willing to step up and help his fellow coworkers out when the need arises. He has helped gain control of an offender who attempted to assault another staff member during a cell move. Mr. Boren displayed loyalty to his profession, while maintaining high professional ethics.

She goes above and beyond in researching, communicating, proofing and fine-tuning her work. She has created good working relationships with each Warden she has worked under as well as other staff and Policy & Procedure and Litigations Coordinators from other institutions. Her good communication skills makes her east to work with.

Employee of the Month
Custody
Charla Francis
CO I Francis works in property- she is very detailed and works hard to insure the property room runs smoothly. She is always helpful and explains how to do things. CO I Francis’ dedication insures that offenders receive their property.
Non-custody
Lacee Cox
Ms. Cox has only been in her current position (IAC) for a short time and she is adapting very well. She is responsible for printing the Photo-Con photos each week that are taken in Recreation and purchased by offenders. Ms. Cox has gone above and beyond her printing duty by examining the photos for new tattoos by comparing them to previous photos or to the offender’s existing list of tattoos in OPII. Through her diligent review of these photos, she has spotted many undocumented tattoos that offenders have received. She then forwards the information to the Records Office so the tattoos can be added to the offender’s facesheet and back-up card. Most of the tattoos Ms. Cox catches have evaded conduct violations, so she also alerts housing unit sergeants of recent tattoo activity in their house. Her extra effort is not only helping make offender tattoo information more up-to-date within DOC, but could also assist law enforcement with a more accurate description for identifying and apprehending an offender in the event of an escape.

Big News
William “Bill” Stange was named Warden of Potosi Correctional Center effective September 22, 2019.
A member of corrections team since 1993, Stange has worked as a Corrections Officer I & II at Renz Correctional Center, Corrections Caseworker I & II at Women’s Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Correctional Center, Functional Unite Manager at Northeast Correctional Center, and Assistant Warden. Most recently Stange worked at Southeast Correctional Center as Deputy Warden. Stange holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University.
PCC would like to welcome and congratulate Warden Stange!
Employee of the Month
Jason Lee (Custody)
COIII Jason Lee has set an outstanding example of leadership by sacrificing his time and position to fill open slots so further fellow COIs would not be subjected to the Mandatory List. COIII Lee’s actions in this alone help maintain properly staffed shifts while helping a COI enjoy their time with some rest from the institution. On one such occasion, Saturday the 25th of May, COIII Lee gave his time for an out count. During this out count an offender slipped while washing. Lee’s fast reflexes were able to prevent this offender from falling, to which would have been detrimental considering the dynamics of this particular offender’s condition. Not only Lee’s quick actions, but his experience and cognitive intuition helped prevent a situation before it became life threatening. His actions give pride to the DOC in knowing that the leadership COII Lee possesses not only exists, but sets high standards to achieve in one’s self.
Racheal Ziegler (Non-custody)
Racheal (OSA) was selected as Employee of the month at PCC for the month of September. Since reporting to PCC on January 27, 2019, Racheal has proven her worth. She came here with no knowledge of how the Training Department operates, it’s computer system and how to complete any of the paperwork. In 6 months, not only has she mastered all the above, but she has been assigned numerous additional duties outside her duties in the Training Office that she has taken in stride and ran with.
The largest, and most important, additional task she taken on is COI hiring. Since taking over the hiring of COIs in April of 2019, she has far exceeded expectations. In less than 4 months, she cleared for hire 40 COIs-that’s only 6 less than we hired in ALL of 2018. Doing so requires contacting each applicant to schedule an interview and urinalysis test. Not to mention, verifying applications and other paperwork is complete; running MULES checks, tax compliance checks, MOCIS visiting checks, work history checks, reference checks, SECURUS checks, Selective Service checks, CaseNet checks, and 1-year Exclusion list checks on every applicant-not just the people we’ve hired. She ensures every file is complete before submitting it to the Personnel Office. This doesn’t even include the numerous phone calls she handles every day from applicants with questions, or calls she makes to applicants to get necessary paperwork. All this, while handling her normal duties. Racheal has never complained about the added duties. Instead, she continues to quietly complete jobs that are held by 3 different people at other institutions. She has, undoubtedly, earned the right to represent PCC as Employee of the Month.

CO II Bruce Boren
CO II Bruce Boren was selected as the Custody Employee of the Month at PCC for June. Bruce is one of the hardest working employees custody has. He voluntarily works overtime to help out. He is always ready and willing to go above and beyond to help in any way. He is always in a good mood and treats everyone he comes in contact with respect. Everyone cannot help but love him and be in a good mood when he is around. As prime example of his kindness he donated his employee of the month parking space to another employee because they were having knee surgery and he wanted them to have a closer parking space.

I have always been a part of sports, which means, I’ve always been a part of a team. PCC continues to give me that feeling of being part of a team, family, and power. There’s always an opportunity to be a leader here. The DOC continues to grow and the health benefits are probably the best that I’ve ever had. The opportunities are limitless.

CO I Kayla Gilley
Kayla is not only an exemplary employee, she is also an exceptional leader. Her positivity and productivity are contagious among her co-workers. Additionally, Kayla is a valued member of CERT and a reliable employee, keeping her unscheduled absences at a minimum. Her leadership is appreciated in Housing unit 2 and her professionalism has not gone unnoticed by supervisors on all three shifts. Her willingness to accept responsibility for plans that do not progress as originally hoped is second only to her eagerness to recognize co-workers for completing tasks well. She is greatly deserving of employee of the month.
Non-custody
Storekeeper I Aaron Estes
While the Warehouse Supervisor being out for surgery, Aaron was tasked with covering not only his duties in Offender Clothing Issue, but also the duties of the Warehouse Supervisor. He efficiently and effectively managed to verify the orders were filled correctly, checked each for allowable quantities and items and delivered each throughout the institution in a timely manner. He loaded and unloaded trucks as needed. He ensured received items were counted and put away correctly. He did all of this while he was, at times, the only storekeeper on duty, covering the Canteen, Clothing Issue and Warehouse all at the same time. He did this with a smile and never complained. His professionalism and excellent attitude make him the perfect candidate for Employee of the Month.
